Hive Woodwork

The Hive Woodwork group is a newly created woodworking group based in Derby, open to anyone to come along and have a go at learning some woodwork and DIY skills.

Their mission is to help the local community by teaching people of all ages, sexes and dispositions basic woodworking and DIY skills.

If you are interested in having a go at doing woodwork, small metalwork, learning new DIY skills or just having a place to pop in to say hello have a cuppa and a chat then they are the place for you. The group decides what ideas they want to work on, they can be individual projects or work together on larger ideas. The aim is to get members to come for a few hours either once a week, maybe more. 

They are also interested in setting up a "Men in Sheds Project"  which encourages retired Men & Women to get out socialise, share and learn new skills in a friendly, community setting.

They also plan to set up a new Woodwork group for adults and young people, aimed at beginners but open to all ages, sexes, or with less able or limited abilities.

If you have your own hobby ideas such as bird boxes, wooden toys, clocks, hanging ornaments, or ideas for the garden they will be glad to help. They can also teach you basic DIY such as putting up shelves, building flat pack furniture, changing a plug, electrical or plumbing emergency home DIY fixes. Craftspeople or hobbyists are also welcome, you are welcome to bring your own tools and materials. 

This Woodwork Group needs donations! Any tools, wood/items you may have spare in your sheds, please don't send it to the tip!   Please help if you can, if you're interested please get in touch, their details are on the website.
