Firstly we have The Cinnamon Trust who do fantastic work to support the elderly or terminally ill by joining up volunteer helpers to walk dogs or provide short term foster care for pets. If you love animals and would like to help, please take a look and see how you may be able to volunteer your time, there's bound to be a way to help near you.
Following the theme of people and pets, unfortunately some people have to give up owning a pet, perhaps if they go into hospital or into care. One group who is helping to give much needed support to these animal lovers is Canine Concern. Canine concern helps the sick, lonely and elderly by providing visiting therapy dogs to homes and hospitals. Just imagine the joy that can bring! If you would like to volunteer yourself and your dog then get in touch now.
And finally we have the animals themselves. Sometimes they need a bit of help and support after the trials and tribulations of their lives. The Wonky Donkey Visitors Centre provides a purpose built donkey sanctuary in Yorkshire. You can visit the centre, adopt a donkey or join in on facebook and catch up with the lovable donkeys and their latest donkey exploits!
So I hope you find a way to celebrate our lovely pets and animals this month, further information on the event is available by going to the National Pet Month website.
