We created CommunitySpaceBook as we know that there are many groups out there who want to welcome new members and wish to share what they are doing. On the other side of the coin there are many people who wish to learn about groups in their areas or people with similar interests but who are unaware what groups exist. The aim of CommunitySpaceBook is to bring these two groups of people together.
We'd like to encourage as many groups as possible to register with us - this is an inclusive site after all. So don't worry about whether your club, society, charity, meet-up, is a proper "community group", just ask to be included! We understand that many small groups do not necessarily have a dedicated website but are using facebook pages and/or other social media to communicate their messages. CSB only requires groups to have a web address of some kind to be included. If you don't yet have a web address for your group, then future posts will cover how you can create one and how best to use it to engage with your group.
We know that groups often need real-life spaces to meet so we also include community spaces and venues in our listings. Community spaces and groups are under threat from withdrawal of funding so we encourage groups and users to make full use of community spaces for their meet-ups.
All website visitors have the ability to engage with the site and share with others their experiences of groups by commenting on blog posts and rating community groups. This is simply done using the forms and buttons on the website.
We wish to keep CommunitySpacebook current and will be including links to community news, blog posts and reviews of items of interest to community groups. Please support us by sending us details of groups you are involved with by using the add group menu link or commenting on blog posts.
